A night to remember

It was a classic Sunday night - Mom on Facebook, child playing with knives. Only he wasn't playing with knives, he was swinging on the arms of the couch and love seat. I glanced over and instructed Colin to stop. He didn't listen.

He hit the back of his head on the end table and I scooped him right up. I rubbed that boo boo so hard and he screamed even louder... He buried his head on me and then got up when that wasn't making it better... that's when I saw the blood - all over my hands, my shirt, his shirt. I didn't know what to do - I think I called my mom to ask for her opinion and hung up on her realizing he needed to go to the ER.

We grabbed his blankie and ran out the door - my sister came to the ER as our photographer (thank goodness for her new cell phone, right?) and Justin turned around on his way to work to care for the little guy. 4 stitches later and a really cool dolphin sticker, he is all better! I wish I could say I was calm and collected, I wasn't. Man, that really scared me!

Here is the little patient - when his head was getting stitched, he was so polite and told the dr "no thank you" and on our way out he asked the nurses "when can I come back"......

this is a terrible cell phone picture... My sister has the good ones...

Happy endings are the best! Yikes! My lovely daughter had a similar experience at age 3 jumping on the couch and promptly busting her mouth on the coffee table. OUCH! Glad he's doing well!

So glad he's okay. Xan got stitches twice in '08 within a 6 month time period. I don't do blood well so luckily Jason was able to come home quickly the first time and he was home the second time. Boys will be boys I guess.

Poor little guy! Sounds like he was quite the trooper though.
I lucked out big time. My son needed stitches in his chin, but was with his grandpa for 11 days. It happened on the second day and he got them removed the morning that he came home. Whew!
